St. Peter’s ICSE school (St. Peter’s English Medium High School) at Nileshwar under the Kannur
Diocesan Educational Trust was established in 1994. Nilakandeshwaram (Nileshwar) is the cultural
capital of Kasaragod District, and St. Peter’s ICSE School stands aloft here adding glory to its
ancient tradition.
Fr. George Sebastian Puliyanmakkal, the founding father of St. Peters, was a visionary of extraordinary zeal and zest. He thought of starting an English Medium School to satiate the hunger of the local people for a premier institute that would cater to the intellectual, moral and physical growth-aspirations of their children. And then in 1994 with the motto ‘Higher Always’ he started the school with some 25 students and a few teachers.
In 2003,the school was affiliated to ICSE (KE 063/2003) (Indian Council of School education, headquartered in New Delhi) which is considered one of the best systems of education in India). The first batch appeared for the ICSE Public Examination (Std X) in 2004 March. So far Nineteen batches of students have appeared for the ICSE Examination, all with 100% pass result. St. Peter’s students always stand in a better position in the entrance examinations of Kerala state and the national eligibility tests. St. Peter’s ICSE school has now grown into a very large fruit bearing tree today. The students who come out of this school are able to face the challenges of life in today’s tech-driven world.
Rev. Fr. Martin Rayappan served as the second Managing Director of the school from 2005 to 2009. In the year 2009 CCR (Congregation of Carmelite Religious) Sisters took charge of the academic curriculum of the school and Rev. Fr. Roy Nedumthanam became the third Managing Director, Rev. Fr. Binu Cletus as the fourth, Rev. Fr. Mathew Kuzhimalayil as the fifth and presently Rev. Fr. Ansil Peter, Puthenpurackal is the managing Director.
The school endeavours to provide quality education in keeping with the national aspirations. The school endeavours to promote education for the integral development of the total personality of each and every student under its care. Moral instruction is an important part of the curriculum.
The school being a minority institution, reserves for itself inherent and constitutionally recognised rights of management and administration. The motto of the school: “Higher Always” English is the medium of instruction in at St. Peters. But due attention is paid to Malayalam and Hindi. Malayalam is the second language in the school.
In the year 2010 January 23rd the school formed SPAARK (St. Peter’s Alumni Association for Re-Union of the Kith & Kin) for the former students.
